State and Trends of Carbon Pricing 2016
This analytical document provides an up-to-date overview of existing and emerging carbon pricing instruments around the world, including national and subnational initiatives. Furthermore, it gives an overview of current corporate carbon pricing initiatives. Another key focus of the report is on the importance of aligning carbon pricing with the broader policy landscape. The document also provides new modelling analysis to demonstrate the crucial benefits that an international carbon market established under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement could provide in reducing the costs to countries of achieving their emission reduction targets.

The Agriculture Sectors in the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions: Analysis
This analytical document provides an overview on how the agriculture sectors have been included in the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) and/or their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to the UNFCCC. It outlines mitigation contributions with a particular focus on agriculture and land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF), vulnerabilities under climate change and priority areas and/or activities for adaptation in the agriculture sectors.
Furthermore, this report summarizes information provided in the INDCs/ NDCs on Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), mitigation-adaptation co-benefits and how countries have developed their INDCs and are planning to implement their NDCs. The aim of this analysis is to provide a basis for identifying priorities for international support for climate action in the agriculture sectors.

WMO provisional Statement on the Status of the Global Climate in 2016
This analytical document highlights how 2016 is very likely to be the world’s hottest year on record. Global temperatures for January to September 2016 have been 0.88 °C (1.58 °F) above the average for the 1961-90 reference period and approximately 1.2°C above those of the pre-industrial period. Preliminary data for October indicate that temperatures are continuing to be at a sufficiently high level to remain well above the 0.77 °C (1.39 °F) annual value set in 2015.

Summary Report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on the Outcome of the Full-day Discussion on Specific Themes Relating to Human Rights and Climate Change
This activity report presents a full-day discussion on specific themes related to human rights and climate change, which was held on 6 March 2015 during the 28th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) pursuant to resolution 26/27. Two panel discussions took place.
The resolution called for one panel discussion on identifying challenges and ways forward towards the realization of all human rights for all, including the right to development, in particular those in vulnerable situations, as well as the measures and best practices to promote and protect human rights that can be adopted by States in addressing the adverse effects of climate change on the full and effective enjoyment of human rights, and another panel discussion on how climate change has had an adverse impact on States’ efforts to progressively realize the right to food, and policies, lessons learned and good practices.

This technical document explains that, according to the sources reviewed, human rights obligations relating to the environment include: 1) procedural obligations of States to assess environmental impacts on human rights and to make environmental information public, to facilitate participation in environmental decision-making, and to provide access to remedies for environmental harm; 2) substantive obligations of States to adopt legal and institutional frameworks that protect against environmental harm that interferes with the enjoyment of human rights, including harm caused by private actors; and 3) non-discrimination and other obligations of States relating to the protection of members of groups in vulnerable situations, including women, children and indigenous peoples.

How to Become a Greenz Climate Champion
This toolkit aims to introduce the topic of climate change and adaptation in eight activity-based and interactive units to primary school teachers and students in Grenada. The Grenadian-German Programme “Integrated Climate Change Adaptation Strategies” (ICCAS) introduced the toolkit to 49 primary schools in the small island state and is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB).
The toolkit consists of a teacher manual, a worksheet collection, student passports, stickers and posters. Grenadian illustrator Stacey Byer developed child-friendly images for each unit. To date, 400 posters and 900 student passports including sticker sets were delivered to primary schools.
