On 6 March 2018, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Mr. Nikhil Seth, visited Tongji University and signed a Cooperation Agreement, to collaboratively conduct in-depth research and training including study visits, e-learning and workshops.
Collaboration between UNITAR, as the Secretariat of UN CC:Learn, and Tongji University began in 2016 with the promotion of climate change learning, as the two institutes joined forces to develop the Mandarin Chinese version of the Introductory e-Course on Climate Change. This course is available on the UN CC:e-Learn platform, which currently gathers more than 130,000 registered participants from all over the world.
The course was launched as a public and worldwide learning tool, and was also introduced in Tongji University’s Minor Programme in Sustainable Development curricula.
The e-course is structured in six modules:
- Climate Change Science
- International Legal and Policy Framework for Climate Change
- Climate Change Adaptation
- Climate Change Mitigation and Low Carbon Development
- Climate Change Finance
- Climate Change Governance and Planning
More details available on the Course Syllabus. To begin the course, please register at the UN CC:e-Learn platform.
