Keeping abreast of the latest climate change developments is essential to make timely, effective, and sustainable decisions. However, it can be challenging to find enough time and space for learning.
Our Climate Classrooms are ‘pop-up’ learning sessions held during major climate change conferences and similar events, such as the Conference of the Parties (COP) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SB) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Over roughly 45 minutes, participants, including negotiators, other delegates, and professionals from diverse backgrounds learn key aspects of important climate change topics, directly from subject matter experts in an interactive manner. This initiative started as an in-person class where the lecturer and about 20 participants are equipped with noise-canceling headsets so they can follow the lecture and engage in discussion directly at the conference. Since 2020, this initiative has been held online allowing more than 11’000 participants from different parts of the world to take part and attend the classes.
Participants who attend a Climate Classroom become part of our global alumni community.

What our participants have said:
Climate change is a new portfolio for me. The Classrooms were eye-opening and gave me a foundation of knowledge. I learned about climate finance and got insights on how to write a better proposal and got ideas for what projects we can look into for mitigation, adaptation, the whole works! – Mr Muntaga Sallah, Permanent Secretary, Office of the President, The Gambia
I highly recommend the Climate Classroom to anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of climate change and learn about practical solutions. It is a fantastic platform that bridges the gap between knowledge and action, empowering individuals to make a tangible difference in the fight against climate change. – Participant from COP28
The COP28 UN CC: Learn Climate Classroom has been helpful in expanding my knowledge and has helped me develop regionally specific strategic plans to support a just transition and equitable distribution of the burdens and benefits of maritime operation in my community. – Participant from COP28
I didn’t expect them [Climate Classrooms] to be here, but they have been very helpful because even if you work on climate change, you can’t be an expert in every aspect. I quite like the headsets because they help you focus – Xu Qthyi, Climate Politics, PhD student at Cambridge University
