This booklet showcases ten best practices from the climate smart agriculture approach to the crop, fishery, forestry and livestock sectors. The report stresses the urgency of tackling climate change and safeguarding food security to boost farmers’ resilience and adaptation to climate change and illustrates how rural communities are already transitioning to farming practices that are better suited to a warming world.

This analytical report identifies expected climate change risks for Trinidad and Tobago generally and by their potential impacts on six priority sectors, namely agriculture, human health, human settlements, coastal zones, water resources and energy. The study: calculates the economic impact of probable damages; identifies possible adaptation actions to reduce impacts and possible barriers to their implementation, and calculate their costs/benefits; and prioritizes adaptation measures. This summary for policymakers of the International Panel on Climate Change Working Group III analitycal report outlines technological and behavioral changes that can limit the increase in global average temperatures to less than two degrees Celsius, the point at which science shows that climate impacts begin to overwhelm human coping efforts. The report further notes that only major institutional and technological change will result in a better than even chance that global warming will not exceed this threshold.

It starts with recognizing that action taken in towns and cities is essential for addressing global environmental problems such as climate change. It accepts that, with an increasing proportion of the worlds population living in urban areas in low- and middle-income countries, these are important sites for engaging with the environment. The report describes the social and economic benefits that can be generated by addressing environmental challenges such as cliamte change, and provides convincing evidence to support engagement with these issues.

This analytical report confirms that 2013 tied with 2007 as the sixth warmest on record, continuing the long-term global warming trend, and highlights that 13 of the 14 warmest years on record have all occurred in the 21st century. This analytical report highlights disaster risk management (DRM) in the region Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
