This guidance document focuses on private sector providers of capital as well as the intermediaries such as banks and asset managers. Together these investors and financial institutions manage the pensions and savings of individual citizens.

This guidance document is designed as guidance for policymakers and practitioners to mainstream pro-poor environment and climate concerns into planning, budgeting and monitoring. The document provides guidance and concrete examples in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The report quantifies the impact of climatic variability on health in Bangladesh. It uses a combined data set that integrates geographically-referenced national health surveys with local weather stations located across the entire country over a 30-year period. The uniquely rich data source – combining health, a wide range of socio-environmental information with local climate conditions- as well as its large spatial and temporal scale, make it possible to address limitations in current research in the area of health and climate linkages. The findings are broadly in line with evidence from epidemiological studies that focus on the effect of climate conditions on both the transmission cycle and the incidence of disease. They confirm that the incidence of illnesses is strongly associated with sharp changes in temperature and precipitation between seasons. The study also looks at the institutional readiness and geographical targeting of health and other developmental institutional interventions to deal with climate induced health risks.

This guidance document provides recommendations to policymakers in five areas: policy development; government and resources; curriculum development; capacity building of teachers and education planners; and public awareness, communication and stakeholder involvement, based on the case studies, as well as brief profiles of climate change and education in 16 countries’ sustainable development policy processes.

This activity report present a project for a Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) in Namibia which aims to support Namibia in achieving the goal defined in the Off-Grid Energisation Master Plan (OGEMP), namely to provide access to appropriate energy technologies to everyone living or working in off-grid areas. The NAMA aims at giving access to electricity for regions, households and companies which are currently without access to electricity, as well as improving the share of renewable energies (mainly using solar energy). The NAMA will reduce GHG emissions through the replacement of fossil fuels with renewable energies and will provide the conditions for income generation and new business opportunities. This will also lead to enhanced private sector involvement. Finally, the NAMA aims to achieve additional sustainable development benefits, such as improved livelihoods for the poor.

This technical document discusses technical aspects on how to construct a Forest Reference Emission Level/Forest Reference Level (FREL/FRL) in line with UNFCCC guidance. It reiterates relevant UNFCCC decisions and provides a structural overview of elements a country needs to consider when constructing a FREL/FRL for REDD+ under the UNFCCC.

An Annex containing a list of non-UN learning resources concludes the Guide. This guide is part of a series of developed through UN CC:Learn to facilitate access to existing state-of-the-art materials relevant for climate change learning on particular topics.
