This policy document shows the conceptualization of a Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) in Kenya in the field of circular economy. It proposes incentives and strategic framework for solid waste management approach in urban areas. After reviewing Kenya’s environment policy and waste management, different scenarios are analysed in the context of climate change, taking account of several co-benefits as well as barriers and risks.

This policy document provides examples of good practice and outlines key technical issues for Parties seeking guidance on how to prepare their Intended Nationnaly Determined Contributions (INDCs). The paper is specially designed for countries participating in the UNDP-UNFCCC (UN Framework Convention on Climate Change) Regional Technical Dialogues on INDCs held in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, and Eastern Europe. This policy document presents the Green Growth Development Strategy of Uganda. It focuses on five core areas: agriculture, natural capital management, green cities (urban development), transport and energy. Outcomes envisaged incude income and livelihoods enhancement; decent green jobs; climate change adaptation and mitigation; sustainable environment and natural resources management; food and nutrition security; resource use efficiency; and social inclusiveness and economic transformation. 

This policy document adresses Lebanon’s contributions to climate change mitigation under the UNFCCC. The report gives an overview of sustainable energy in Lebanon, includes a modelling analysis and identifies investment targets and risks in the private sector.

This activity report connects different stories which underline the work UNDP and GEF have realized so far to protect the health of the planet. Spanning all 25 years of UNDP’s partnership with the GEF, the storytellers include people from all walks of life, including subsistence farmers, civil society leaders, captains of industry and government ministers. This policy document presents the first balance-sheet of The Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action, launched at COP22. It reveals that climate action is indeed increasing, eventhough the pace and scale of action may not be sufficient to close the gap between what Parties have pledged in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and what is required to meet the goals for adaptation that are laid down in the Paris Agreement. Various data and recommendations about climate action are provided.
