Dr. Christine Grüning – Senior Sustainable Finance Specialist
Christine has more than 15 years of experience working as sustainable finance expert with a strong focus on climate finance. Since 2011 she is managing and implementing applied research, education and capacity building projects in the Frankfurt School-UNEP Centre for Climate & Sustainable Finance. At present, she functions as Programme Director for the development and implementation of the NDC Finance Fellowship Programme, like her role during the NDC Finance Fellowship Programme.
Carola Menzel-Hausherr – Senior Sustainable Finance Specialist
Carola has a consolidated background in sustainable finance and institutional development, having worked with public and private sector organisations. In her role as Senior Project Manager and Sustainable Finance Expert at the Frankfurt School-UNEP Centre for Climate & Sustainable Finance, Carola delivers practical knowledge concerning climate finance readiness topics, including access requirements and procedures of international climate funds and deploying principles for transformative sustainable finance.
The Class
This session will focus on the role of climate finance in the context of the Paris Agreement. In particular, it will explore the difference between mainstreaming climate finance and aligning climate finance with the goals of the Paris Agreement, including discussing what Paris alignment looks like in practice. This will entail looking at the key actors, sectors, and instruments involved, as well as some of the challenges that may be faced.
