This course is one component of the program “Climate Friendly Energy Efficiency Policies across South East Europe,” which is a capacity building program focusing on energy efficiency in South East Europe. It provides a brief overview of carbon finance concepts and methodologies for energy efficiency programs/projects in buildings, as well as discusses the challenges of implementing Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in buildings and the role of designated national authorities (DNAs) in promoting carbon finance for public buildings. In particular, it equips different stakeholders with technical and program management skills, tools and knowledge necessary to simulate greenhouse gas emissions estimates in public buildings. The course consists of several lessons, presenting key concepts and providing opportunities to apply and discuss them. Quizzes, research exercises and case studies help to broaden participants’ understanding of the topics in a proactive way.
